Shipment intake & document readiness, in practice

Can this tell us that a shipment will clear customs?
No. The readiness workflow compares received information with the operational checklist your team has configured for a selected lane or service. That can help operations see what is present, what is missing, and who needs to review the file, but it does not decide admissibility, interpret regulations, or make a customs declaration. A customs or regulated-freight specialist retains those decisions because clearance depends on the shipment, jurisdiction, documents, and authority at the time of review.
Can the worker classify a commodity or decide whether goods are dangerous?
No. It can preserve the requester’s description, identify that the request falls outside the routine checklist, and route the file with its context intact. Commodity classification, dangerous-goods judgement, permits, restricted-goods assessment, and related submission choices belong to the qualified person responsible for that decision. The useful automation boundary is complete intake and an accountable handoff, not replacing the specialist whose decision carries legal, safety, and commercial consequences.
What if each customer and lane needs different documents?
That is why the pilot begins with one repeatable lane and service rather than a global document list. The checklist is configured around the information the receiving team has agreed it needs for that lane; it can be adapted as the team sees where requests still arrive incomplete. When a request falls outside the defined service, has an unfamiliar document, or needs an exception, the workflow makes that visible and routes it to a person instead of pretending the standard checklist applies.
